At the Wallace Farm for Wayward Youth, located in an arid and desolate valley, only remnants of buildings remain. Kendal, a seventeen-year-old girl, can barely remember the valley's once lush and fertile state. For the past ten years, the region has suffered from a severe drought, causing society to crumble. Kendal, along with a few remaining survivors, struggle to survive and yearn for a way out.
Their situation worsens when a water baron greedily stakes claim to the meager underground water supply that remains. Faced with the possibility of losing the only valuable resource they have left, Kendal is forced to make a difficult decision. She must choose between fleeing and hiding or summoning the courage to stand up against the water baron and fight for the people and possessions she holds dear.
