Step Up

(2006)

Step Up is a 2006 film set in Baltimore, following the story of Tyler Gage, a troublemaker and street dancer. Living in a lower-class neighborhood with his foster parents, Tyler spends most of his time with his best friends Mac Carter and Skinny Carter, engaging in partying and car theft. However, Tyler's life takes a turn when he, along with his friends, breaks into the Maryland School of Arts and vandalizes the stage, leading to his arrest.

As punishment, Tyler is sentenced to 200 hours of community service at the school, where he is assigned to help the janitor clean the premises. One day, while dancing in the parking area, Tyler catches the attention of ballet dancer Nora Clark. Nora, who is facing difficulties with her partner Andrew due to an injury, agrees to let Tyler help her with the choreography. As they rehearse together, Tyler also becomes friends with fellow students Miles Darby and Lucy Avila.

However, when Andrew recovers and returns, Tyler, known for quitting everything he starts, decides to give up dancing and leaves Nora on her own. Facing an incident that forces him to make a decision, Tyler must choose between following his dream or returning to his rebellious ways.
